This evening, Mariko and I shared a bottle of matcha IPA beer from Kizakura Saké Brewing Company. It was delicious, with just a hint of matcha flavor. I was worried it would be overpowering, but I thought it was just right…
We went to a “beer garden” event today at a friends restaurant. It wasn’t outdoors (so hot!), but we enjoyed yummy beer from Kyoto, handmade onigiri, and delicious Japanese izakaya-style food. What a nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Cheers!

I never used to bring home food from vacation, except for maybe omiyage (gifts) for others. However, Mariko always does lots of shopping for local foods, and bring them home to enjoy and now I am starting to really appreciate that.
So, packing light in order to have more space in the luggage for goodies is a thing for me. On the latest trip, I brought back several cans of local beer. And let me tell you, the extra effort in bringing it home made it made it much tastier!
Today our trip to Indiana came to an end. Before leaving, though, we had to have one last local beer at the airport. It’s a short flight so I should be able to “hold it” until we arrive in Austin.

It was a fun trip, and I’m looking forward to going again next year!
Today we had a relaxing day in Indy. We basically just moved to a different hotel, ate food, drank coffee and beer, and relaxed. Yay for these kinds of days to balance out the exciting ones.
