こんばんは! Hello, how are you?

Today was a hot and humid Sunday, and we stayed in most of the day. However, Mariko and I did a little yardwork – planting some goya seedlings that we received from our friends. It was crazy because there were so many mosquitoes buzzing around… I was covered up in long pants, a jacket and hat, and I still got bit a few times. Ack!

Most of the rest of the day was spent lazily doing housework and then we watched some baseball, drank margaritas, ate homemade enchiladas, and watched even more baseball. Our Dodgers were locked in a 5-5 tie into the 17th inning, until they finally won. What a marathon game! ⚾️

It was a nice weekend for us, and the kids are happy because they have tomorrow off from school as well. Too bad I have to work…

Today’s photo is of the clouds this afternoon. ☁️ I took it when I went to the Mexican market to buy some limes and Central American-style sour cream for our enchiladas. Once again I used the black & white + yellow filter, with +2 shadows. In Lightroom, I bumped up the contrast even more, especially on the left side of the histogram, and applied a strong vignette. I forgot to add any grain, however… woops! 😛

I hope you had a good day!

こんばんは! Hello, did you have a nice Friday the 13th?

Mine was good, with a lot of work finished, but what was fun was watching Koa play baseball in the evening. He hit a rocket to center field, but it was caught. Still, that was his best-hit ball ever and he was fired up!

Anyways, the weekend is here and it should be a busy one, with another baseball game, Japanese school, and a piano recital. Should be fun!

こんばんは!Hi, how’s it going?

The week is half-over! Has it been going ok? My week has been good, especially at work. I feel energized in the new office and I have started a couple new projects, and continued a couple old ones that had fallen by the wayside. It’s kind of exhausting, though. It takes a lot of concentration and that can be fatiguing. Every night this week I feel so tired… but it’s a good kind of tired. Like how you feel good after exercising because you know the effort is important and healthy. 💪

I haven’t taken many cloud photos lately, but this afternoon when I arrived home, the sun was peeking through and it looked really cool. So I couldn’t resist! ☁️ 📷 I bumped up the clarity a bit using a graduated filter in Lightroom… I think it came out pretty good!

Below is a photo of tonight’s dinner – Hawaiian-style char-siu chicken. It was so yummy! We got to use our new grill for the first time, too. I’m happy to report that it works nicely and is so easy to use. A successful inaugural effort. 😊

Just two more days in the work week, and then it’s the weekend. Let’s have a good Thursday!

こんばんは! Hello! We made it to the weekend. It was such a quick week it seemed! But the cold weather came back today, along with the rain. Luckily the forecast for the rest of the weekend looks sunny and warmer. ☀️ Koa has a baseball tournament so I hope the baseball fields have time to dry out before the games.

Tonight’s dinner was a super trifecta of sorts… we had takoyaki, okonomiyaki, and yakisoba. And a nice cold beer to round out the meal. The takoyaki and yakisoba are typical foods served at festivals in Japan, from small stands, so tonight’s meal reminded me of when we lived there, and of course a festival is fun so they are feel-good types of food! 😋 I find it fascinating that smells and tastes can transport you back to different parts of your life. It’s great.

The photo for today is of the sky and clouds that I saw on the way to work. Last night there was a storm, and in the morning there was a break in the clouds when I took the photos. But later in the day, the clouds and rain returned. ☔ In the evening, it cleared up and we’re looking forward to a nice weekend. I hope to take some photos outdoors!
