Today we got to see the tail-end of a tuna breakdown. I was a little bummed we didn’t get to see the whole tuna, but we did get to eat maguro temaki, and then toro! And it is World Saké Day as well, so we enjoyed a couple of different types.

Omakase Night

Tonight we went to a soft-opening of our friends’ omakase sushi expansion space called Tonari. The sushi was amazing, and the space is nice and cozy. What’s really cool is that there are tables for upcoming classes, such as pottery, food, and flower arranging.

What sets their omakase apart from other restaurants is that it is a 45-minute omakase, at a more affordable price point. So it’s perfect for a quick but memorable dinner before heading out to a show or night downtown.

Can recommend!!!

Tonight we went to a birthday party for a friend who requested udon. It was a lot of fun! I got to roll out the dough for a bit, and wow, that is tough work! But our friends are professionals, so even with my poor effort, the udon was in good hands. 😀

We also enjoyed a nice selection of saké, played with the hosts dogs and cats, and ate cake. It was awesome. I haven’t eaten udon too many times before, but I am growing to appreciate it. Double onsen-tamago is also nice. I love eggs!
