For Mother’s Day we had a couple of friends over to our house to eat temaki sushi. It’s so fun to make your own sushi hand-rolls, and of course it’s so delicious! In addition, Mariko made some karaage, and I made cocktails. A fun dinner!

Karaage Night
こんばんは。How’s it going?
This evening Mariko made some double-deep-fried karaage. Wow. Just super. And our oldest son made a yummy green sauce to go with it. In fact, we had the green sauce, Zhong sauce, and Kewpie mayo to choose from. Karaage is a family favorite, for sure, and the homemade sauce made it extra-special. ♥️

Karaage with Friends
We had a couple of friends (vaccinated) over for dinner, and karaage was made and enjoyed. It’s not just for kids! 😀 Fried chicken is magical for adults too. 😀
Karaage Dinner Snapshot
The karaage that Mariko makes is always oishii, but tonight we had fresh lettuce leaves too! It was a really nice complement to the savory chicken. It reminded me of eating Korean barbecue with the lettuce leaves. 💗
I hope you had a nice day!
Extra-Crispy Karaage
For dinner, Mariko made our family-favorite karaage. The “JFC” (Japanese fried chicken) was extra-crispy this time because she left some of the skin on the pieces of chicken thigh. It was awesome! As usual, Koa liked his karaage with a bit of lemon, while Bay ate his with some Kewpie mayo. I alternated between both. ☺️
I hope you had a nice day!
