“New Year Decoration” Austin, 2025
My office is all decorated for the New Year! It’s great to work in such an inclusive and diverse environment.

I braved the freezing weather to pick up a few dishes from Hunan Bistro, which is a Chinese restaurant we really like. Our favorite dish is Toothpick Lamb, but we also got mabo tofu, Sichuan eggplant, pork with tofu, and fried rice. For Lunar New Year, we usually travel down to San Antonio to celebrate at my cousin’s house, where she throws a huge party. But because of COVID-19, we’re spending a quiet dinner at home. Hopefully next year we’ll be able to travel to see more family… crossing fingers!
Anyways, here’s to a prosperous year of the Ox!
We visited my cousin’s house for their annual Lunar New Years celebration. Here are a few snapshots from the celebration. Gung Hay Fat Choy! 新年快乐!
Every year, we head down to my cousin’s house in San Antonio to celebrate Lunar New Year with good food, games, and the handing out of the red envelopes to the unmarried relatives. It’s so much fun when all the kids line up to receive their loot! This year, there were about 29 unmarried at the party, ranging from a newborn up to some in their mid-20s (I’m guessing).
And for the past couple years, my cousin has been bringing over some different whiskeys for us to taste. This year we had some cognac, which is new! It was delicious. 😄
I hope you had a nice Saturday, and if you celebrate the Lunar New Year, gung hay fat choy!
