It seems like my first blog post every year is always about Mariko’s delicious osechi. This year’s was no exception! She switched things up by using pork instead of the usual beef, and I have to say — I loved it even more!

Happy New Year! We started 2023 off with a delicious osechi brunch. Mariko and her friends prepared everything here, with my contribution being the roast beef. All the dishes were yummy!
These past two weeks have been filled with a lot of yummy foods and plenty of dessert, so I need to get back into my exercise routine quickly. With that in mind, I went for a long run this afternoon and completed my monthly half-marathon challenge in Strava. I struggled a little bit and walked a couple of times, but it wasn’t too bad. I’m really looking forward to a nice year of running!
We kicked off the new year with another delicious traditional osechi. In addition to the usual awesome dishes, we had some saba (mackerel) that our friends prepared for us and it was excellent. I love saba so much!
Today we spent the day relaxing at home, eating our traditional Japanese osechi meal, drinking saké, and enjoying each other’s company. Later on, we had a couple friends over for dinner and we also watched Gaki no Tsukai 2018 Special, which was hilarious. What a great way to ring in the new year! 😂
I hope you had a great day!
またね~
