Homemade pizza – hard to beat! Tonight’s selections were a Portuguese sausage (from Maui) and onion pizza, and a Japanese-style corn and tuna pizza. It might sound weird to Western ears, but it is so yummy.
Hope you had a nice day!

こんばんは。How’s it going?
Tonight Mariko had a few friends over for dinner and she decided to make pizza. Not just a single pizza, but multiple pizzas with different toppings! 🍕 She actually made twice as much dough as we could eat, plus the toppings left are enough for another Pizza Nite, which is fine by me since I am crazy about pizza.
If you are wondering about the topping selections, here’s what was available:
I think we made about 7 small pizzas before we were all stuffed! Oh, in addition to pizza, there was kale, cauliflower, shrimp and cocktail sauce, green salad, and roasted potatoes. And wine! 🍷
The ladies are chatting away, even as it gets late, but I have to turn in… waking up at 5:30 am requires an early bed time. 😀

こんばんは。Tonight we used our new stove-top pizza oven for the first time and the pizza turned out pretty good! A few weeks ago we bought a Pizza Pronto, which is basically an enclosure with a double-layer pizza stone inside. You put it over the burner and after a while, it will come up to temperature and you’re ready to put in the pizza. After about 8 minutes, the pizza is done. 🍕
Mariko made some homemade pizza dough and we had some leftover tomato-based pasta sauce to use on two pizzas, some pesto to use for another pizza, and then a store-bought CPK pizza. All of them were cooked nicely, and the oven crisped up the dough deliciously. 😀
My only complaint is that it took longer than expected to come up to 500° F, and it never rose above that. Our burner is rated at 18,000 BTU so we should be able to achieve more than 500°. I guess it just takes more time? Or maybe the built-n thermometer is broken?
Anyways, more “testing” is needed. 😉 Bring on the pizza!
I hope you had a nice Saturday.

What a beautiful day it was here in Austin today. I took advantage of the sun and took a nice walk at lunchtime, burned some calories, got some fresh air, and caught a few Pokemon. 😄 It was nice to recharge a bit before going back to work, which is super busy! But it’s a good type of busy… I can’t really complain.
Ok, on to the pizza part of this post. 🍕 Tonight we made a couple of homemade pizza pies, using dough that has been resting for a few days. A good dough is really important and can make or break a pizza… tonight’s was some of the best dough I’ve had in a long time! It was a little crispy and firm, but also moist, chewy and flavorful. It also had a few air pockets which I think is the mark of a great dough!
For toppings, we used a homemade tomato sauce, then the kids had Italian sausage, and two kinds of cheese (Mozzarella and another that I can’t remember), plus black pepper, oregano, and basil. Mariko and my pizza had Italian sausage, red onion, black olives, mushrooms, sun-dried tomato, jalapeno, and the same cheeses as the kids’ pizza.
Needless to say, there were no leftovers!
I seriously think that I can eat pizza every day. I❤️🍕!
