Photoshoot and Running

This morning I helped a friend by taking some photos for her restaurant. Food photography is not easy, but luckily the location had plenty of space and the skies were overcast which made for some pleasing light. And as a bonus, we ate lots of sushi! ❤️🍣 Today’s photo is of some of the props we had on hand (but didn’t use). It’s purely a “just for fun” photo and edit.

I took about 300 exposures, bracketing most of them, and culled it down to 70. Next up will be the post-processing. Fun fun fun.

In the evening, I went for a nice, long run – 6.98 miles is a manageable distance for me, but at my slow pace I was wondering if I would finish it before the sun went down. My pace on the last run of 6.75 miles was a leisurely 12:52/mile, so it took just under an hour and a half. Checking Google, I still had an hour and 35 minutes til sunset, so I was off!

I ended up going a little farther and a little faster, finishing with a 11:40/mile pace and a 1:21 overall time. I felt really good on this run, and could see myself running around this pace for the marathon next year. If so, then I would complete the race at 5:06. Not too bad!

I hope you had a great day!

こんばんは。How’s it going?

Tonight some friends came over for dinner. Two of them ran the Austin Marathon in the morning, and they were very hungry, so they brought over a lot of food! It was a combination of Chinese dishes and Korean fried chicken, and most of it was really spicy, which I loved! They know I love the spicy fish from Asia Market, so they made sure to order it, and I would have been satisfied with just that and rice, but all the other food was wonderful as well. And the Korean chicken was on fire! Yummy.

Speaking of the Austin Marathon, I’ve always wanted to run it, but the cost always turned me away. Well, I finally bit the bullet and signed up for the 2021 marathon! It turns out that it costs $99 right now, which is less than what I was expecting. Mariko told me that the price goes up later in the year, and those prices were what I looking at before. Anyways, I guess it’s time to start running more. I’m pumped!

Sunday Run and Avengers: Endgame

こんばんは。How’s it going?

Today the sun was shining brightly so I decided to head on out for a short run. I haven’t gone out running for a few weeks now, but it’s time to get back to it. Especially with summer coming up and vacations planned, I need to get my touring legs back in shape. 😄 On the run, I stopped and took a few photos of the wildflowers because there were so many of them. I always enjoy the running route, but that extra splash of color makes it even more special.

In the evening, we went and watched Avengers: Endgame. Maybe it was because of the excessive hype, but I didn’t think it lived up to my expectations. Yes, it was epic and the action scenes were really cool, but the supposedly emotional parts of the story had no effect on me. On the other hand, the teaser for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker that they showed before the Avengers movie had my heart pumping! Rey’s slow-motion jump over the tie-fighter that cuts to the epic music really struck a chord with me. Now that was moving! I guess it’s because I’ve been a huge fan of Star Wars ever since I was a kid that I have a lot of feelings tied to the franchise. Conversely, I’ve never been a huge fan of any superheroes or Marvel comics so I tend to view those stories from a distance. That’s just my theory.

こんばんは。Today I was watching my favorite program “10km Run” and I noticed that the host took a photo of her shoe with the cool manhole cover. I smiled because I did the same thing when I ran in Osaka a few years ago. It’s so fun to run and sightsee/take photos.

Went for a 2-mile run/walk around my the neighborhood where I grew up. There have been a few changes over the years, such as stop signs replacing yield sign, but for the most part, the neighborhood is still the same. I ran around my old elementary school as well, and it still looks the same. The original buildings are there, and of course, there are the newer “temporary” classrooms that have been there for so long, they seem permanent.

Every year, I am happy to see that the rocket ship in the playground still survives. It has seen several modernization/safety upgrades over the years but it’s essentially the same. I hope they never get rid of it!
